ESPN/USA Today Poll: #17 (Last Week: #21)
AP Top 25: #17 (Last Week: #21)

The Fighting Irish have moved up to number 17 in both polls this week after victories over Pittsburgh and Syracuse. Both were solids wins for Mike Brey as the tournaments are approaching. Up next however is first place Louisville (tied with Georgetown) who has seven games in a row. If the Irish win, they move in to second place in the Big East and with a Georgetown loss, into first. The current top teams, Georgetown and Louisville will play one another on March 8th.

The game on Thursday against the Cardinals is the last true test of the regular season, with games against DePaul, St. John’s, and South Florida following. There’s a very strong chance that Notre Dame could finish in first place in the Big East and win the conference tournament. I truly believe that the Fighting Irish could beat any team in the nation and could make the Final Four. That’s a little optimistic but you never know. As always, Go Irish!
