Dan McCarthy recently committed to Notre Dame over Ohio State. The Ohio native decided to go with ND mainly because his brother, Kyle McCarthy attends the University of Notre Dame. Dan is a 6′2″ safety with a four star rating and position ranking of 12 according to rivals.com.
The Irish managed to get another defensive commitment only a day or so later. Notre Dame added Ethan Johnson from Portland, Oregon. A 6′4″ Defensive End that is one of the top in the nation.
Notre Dame just received a commitment from Jamoris Slaughter, a very talented safety from Georgia.
Notre Dame recently received a solid verbal from defensive back, Robert Blanton. Blanton is a top safety in this years class, ranking number four. He chose ND over Virginia Tech and Michigan.
Notre Dame just got it’s 14th recruit, a defensive tackle, Omar Hunter. He’s a 6′1″, 295-pound athlete from Georgia, who picked the Irish over rival Michigan. The Irish now have four defensive lineman in this 2008 class after major worries about the position coming into the recruiting season.

Notre Dame recruited it’s thirteenth player, Brandon Newman. He’s a 6′1″, 300 pound Defensive Lineman who gave Charlie Weis a solid verbal commitment.
